Sleep

What is it about college that makes people not getting enough sleep at night. People who would have great sleeping habits in high school, such as going to bed early and waking up early, seem to lose those habits in college. Now that I myself am in college I personally don't even think about getting in bed before midnight, when in high school I didn't like to stay up past ten. Could it be the papers and assignments that come with the college package? Maybe, but also it may be more then that, it would be that now that we all have more freedom, as we are all living on our own, we feel it as a right to be able to stay up as long as we want. Yes there is an immense amount of work that has to be done for school, however many hours of the day gets wasted: maybe hanging out with roommates, or talking to girls or guys whatever your preference is, and I personally in addition to these very fun things spend a lot of time on facebook. Yes these are all perfectly acceptable things that help enrich our lives socially, but we need to remember why we are here at college, which purpose is to further our education. Friends are great but at the end of the day do friends get your grades that will lead to the kind of career that you have or the way that your life unfolds? No, we have the choice to make our lives what we want it to be, so do what is possible to achieve the things from college that deem themselves necessary and do yourself a favor and go to bed.

  2. I was so thinking this the other day! I hate the fact that I'm always tired and that I cant get the amount of sleep I got in high school! Wish I could go back to those days.

  3. I never think about going to sleep before midnight either. It's possible to do that if you schedule your classes right. Having classes later in the day and going to sleep later at night is an option. It really depends on when you're most productive. Some people like to have classes very early in the morning while others don't. As long as you get enough sleep and schedule your classes right, I think you can go to bed as late as you want.

  4. Remember when midnight was late and you couldn't keep your eyes open? Back in the day...I kinda miss it. But now I can stay up till 2 or 3 to do homework no problem. So it's a trade-off.

  5. I did stay up once as a freshman for three days and nights in a row to turn in all my papers and tests during my first semester. I was insane!

  6. Haha Ian...

Yeah I wish wanting to go to bed on time was enough to get me to bed on time. And I don't know if you heard apparently there's some research that says sleep actually helps keep you healthy and function better... I dunno it just sounds like craziness to me. Ima stick with my 4-5 hours.
